The decision by Sterilite Corporation (Sterilite) to add a new warehouse and distribution facility to its Ennis, Texas operations resulted from a national industrial site search conducted by The HWH Group. Sterilite, a third generation family-owned enterprise based in Townsend, Massachusetts, is North America’s largest plastic housewares company, and has an established production facility in Ennis.
“During Sterilite’s site selection process, Ennis’ community leadership really stepped up and showed the company’s decision makers that this community is serious about keeping and growing good jobs for its citizens,” said The HWH Group’s President, Charles Cayton. He added, “Other states and communities put together very aggressive incentive proposals to lure Sterilite’s $17,000,000 capital investment and 40 new jobs. The City’s tax abatement along with the EEDC’s grant support allowed us to leverage a $750,000 Texas Capital Fund grant from the State of Texas, Department of Agriculture. This creative approach and the state and local commitment secured the project for Ennis.”
According to Mayor Russell Thomas, “Ennis is very supportive of our existing industry partners, and the City and EEDC are committed to making wise investments to secure new private capital investment and good paying jobs. Our community has a long partnership with Sterilite and we look forward to a bright future.”
When asked about doing business in Ennis, Texas, Sterilite’s Executive Vice-President, Steve Stone commented, “From start to finish, we have found Ennis to be a very business friendly community. We are excited about Ennis’ future progress, and our family looks forward to continuing our long and successful, mutually beneficial partnership. We want to thank the City and EEDC for their on-going support as we strive to grow our business and provide families with excellent employment opportunities.”
