Gulf Coast Retail Complex
Beyond the legal and financial details of putting New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) to work for economic development projects are the lives they can change. A case in point is the Coastal Alabama Farmers & Fishermens Market in Foley, Alabama. This new retail center, the largest of its type in the country, has helped transform an area devastated by natural disasters and economic recession, and is serving as a magnet for young entrepreneurs like 16 year-old Gabby Griffin. Thanks to her idea, the support of her family, a local training course called the “Yea! Program,” and an NMTC allocation that made the difference, her new business at the Market is thriving and inspiring others like her. The HWH Group is pleased to have been a part of the NMTC facilitation team, and salutes our partners in progress: The City of Foley, Foley Industrial Authority, the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, Pacesetter CDE and Chase Bank.
